Our Green Initiatives
Energy-efficient cave lighting
In 2022, we installed a new dynamic LED lighting system throughout the show cave. The new system uses less energy, produces lower heat output and allows the duration of illumination to be controlled within the cave.
This helps us reduce unnecessary energy use and manage the impact of artificial lighting, while enhancing the way visitors experience the cave’s remarkable geology and formations.
Responsible visitor management
As an active river cave and sensitive natural environment, careful visitor management is an important part of protecting the caves.
Our guided tours allow us to manage visitor numbers and movement through the cave, helping to minimise impacts on the underground environment while ensuring visitors can enjoy and learn about this unique natural heritage.
