As one of Northern Ireland’s leading natural attractions, Marble Arch Caves plays an active role in the local economy and wider tourism community. We work with local businesses, tourism partners, community organisations and specialist groups to help create opportunities, share knowledge and celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of County Fermanagh.
Supporting the local economy
We contribute to the local economy through:
- Year-round employment, alongside seasonal opportunities that provide valuable experience and help develop skills within the tourism sector.
- Working with local businesses and suppliers, including local producers, craftspeople and service providers through our retail offering, events and procurement.
- Supporting the wider visitor economy by encouraging visitors to explore more of Fermanagh, stay locally and discover nearby attractions, accommodation, restaurants and experiences.
- Working with tourism organisations and local attractions to promote Fermanagh as a welcoming, sustainable destination.
Connecting people with our natural heritage
Education and community engagement are an important part of our work. Through school visits, educational programmes, workshops and community activities, we help people discover the geology, wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage of the Marble Arch Caves and its environs.
We aim to inspire curiosity and a greater understanding of our natural environment, encouraging future generations to value and help protect the places around them.
Supporting the wider caving community
Marble Arch Caves is also part of a much wider caving community. We value our connections with organisations such as the Speleological Union of Ireland and Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, whose expertise and commitment help support the safety, knowledge and enjoyment of underground environments.
Our cave system also provides an important environment for specialist training and collaboration between emergency-response organisations. Marble Arch Caves has hosted multi-agency rescue training involving Irish Cave Rescue, the Police Service of Northern Ireland and North West Mountain Rescue Team etc, helping teams develop their skills and experience in a challenging underground environment.
