Cave Lighting Project
26th October 2022
The show cave at Marble Arch Caves closed on Monday 12 September for several months to facilitate the installation of a new cave lighting system. The installation of the new dynamic lighting aims to enhance the visitor experience of the unique caves system, showcasing the stunning subterranean world while sustainably protecting the natural cave environment.
We are delighted to report that the cave lighting project within the show cave is progressing well. You can only imagine that undertaking a project of this kind is no small feat! Working with the cold 10 degree ? temperatures in the show cave, rising water levels after heavy rainfall ?️ and bringing all the equipment and tools ? in through the 157 stepped entrance along with working in such a unique environment along 1.5miles of cave passages is a big project.
Work started in September along the 250 metres section of subterranean river where visitors enjoy the short underground boat trip, the contractors have now progressed to work deeper within the show cave along areas of pathway showcasing some of the spectacular calcite formations and cave passages.
