Sharing Fermanagh’s Story

A Collaborative Visitor Experience

At Marble Arch Caves, we are excited to collaborate with outstanding local businesses that share our passion for showcasing the natural beauty, heritage and character of the Fermanagh Lakelands. One partner who truly embodies those values is Erne Water Taxi – an innovative, sustainable and story-rich experience on the waters of Lough Erne.

A Shared Story of Water

Water shapes everything here in Fermanagh. It carved the underground passages and spectacular chambers of Marble Arch Caves, and it continues its journey above ground across the island-dotted expanse of Lough Erne.

Caves to Cruise experience was created to celebrate that natural connection, linking two of the region’s most iconic attractions into one seamless combo ticket.

Visitors begin their adventure beneath the surface on a guided tour of Marble Arch Caves. Here, experienced guides lead visitors through a fascinating underground world of flowing rivers, soaring caverns and delicate limestone formations. A short underground boat journey (weather permitting) adds a sense of exploration and wonder, offering a rare opportunity to glide through a hidden river system deep below the hills of Fermanagh.

Returning to daylight, the experience flows naturally onward as visitors make their way to the island town of Enniskillen, where a relaxed and unhurried cruise on Lough Erne with Erne Water Taxi awaits.

Discovering Lough Erne with Erne Water Taxi

Founded in 2016 by local skipper Barry Flanagan, Erne Water Taxi began with one bright yellow boat and a clear aim: to make the islands, landscapes and stories of Lough Erne accessible to more people. That vision has grown into a thriving tourism business known for its authenticity, sustainability and innovation.

At the heart of the experience is Island Discovery – Ireland’s first fully electric, wheelchair-accessible passenger vessel, designed and built by Barry himself. Solar powered and environmentally conscious, the boat allows visitors to explore the lakelands while leaving no impact on the landscape that makes Fermanagh so special.

Departing from the jetty at Enniskillen Castle Museums, the guided cruise offers panoramic views around Enniskillen. Along the way, guests hear captivating stories of island life, local folklore and the people who shaped this unique community. Wildlife, tranquil waters and centuries of history unfold at a relaxed pace, creating a perfect contrast to the dramatic underground world of the caves.

Two Perspectives, One Unforgettable Day

What makes Caves to Cruise so special is the way it connects landscape and story. Visitors experience Fermanagh from two completely different vantage points, beneath the earth and across open water, while following the same natural flow of the region’s waterways.

Together, Marble Arch Caves and Erne Water Taxi provide an experience which is immersive, educational and deeply memorable. It is a celebration of Fermanagh’s geology, heritage and living culture, and a shining example of how local collaboration enhances the visitor experience.
