Marble Arch Caves named Northern Ireland’s top beauty spot
We are delighted to hear that Marble Arch Caves has been named Northern Ireland’s highest-ranked beauty spot in the 2026 Irish Beauty Spot Index, placing fourth overall among 17 of the island of Ireland’s most prominent natural destinations.
This recognition is particularly special to us because Marble Arch Caves offers visitors the opportunity to experience the natural landscape from a completely different perspective – beneath the surface.
Located in the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain in County Fermanagh, we are part of the Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark, an area renowned for its outstanding geological and natural heritage.
Our guided cave tour takes visitors on a journey through an ancient underground landscape shaped by water over millions of years. As you travel through winding passages and spectacular chambers, you can discover underground rivers, limestone formations and fascinating features that reveal the story of the landscape beneath your feet.
The 2026 Irish Beauty Spot Index assessed 17 destinations across the island, considering factors including traveller ratings, accommodation reviews, affordability and accessibility. Marble Arch Caves achieved an overall score of 46.5, making us the highest-ranked destination in Northern Ireland and placing us ahead of the world-famous Giant’s Causeway.
More than 2.5 million visitors have explored Marble Arch Caves since we first opened to the public in 1985, and we continue to welcome visitors from near and far to experience this remarkable underground world.
For us, the beauty of Marble Arch Caves is about more than a ranking. It is about the sense of discovery visitors experience when they step underground, hear the sound of the river and see a landscape that has been shaped naturally over geological time.
