Demonstration Sessions – walk in sessions from 10:00am – 4:30pm 
ICRO will host a fun and family-friendly demonstration sessions throughout the day. They will be showing off the newest equipment used in cave rescues, with exciting demonstrations that everyone can enjoy. Visitors can watch and learn how these amazing tools help rescuers in real-life situations. These demonstrations are a great chance to see the important work of cave rescuers up close, and it’s sure to be an informative and entertaining experience for people of all ages.


Presentation: Explore the world of ICRO -walk in session on the hour from 10:00am – 4:00pm
Join ICRO’s Cave Leader for a presentation on how the ICRO tackles caving emergencies. Learn about the unique challenges of underground rescues and the specialist training ICRO team members undergo to provide first aid, manage ground-penetrating communications, and set up secure rope systems to bring casualties safely to the surface.

Hear the thrilling account of ICRO’s successful rescue of a stranded caver from a treacherous sea cave in Co. Mayo in 2022. Amid poor weather conditions, ICRO expertly fixed ropes down a hazardous 50-metre cliff and into the cave to reach the casualty. With the support of an RNLI lifeboat, Coast Guard units, the ambulance service, and police, they brought the caver safely to a waiting medical helicopter. This family-friendly talk is packed with adventure, showcasing the talents and skills of the ICRO team.

 

What is the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation?
The ICRO is a national voluntary organisation comprised of active cavers from across Ireland. ICRO celebrated its 63rd year in operation on 11th June 2024. Governed by an elected committee, ICRO is called upon to respond to cave-related accidents. The organisation maintains rescue equipment at four locations in Ireland, with a main store situated in the nearby Cladagh Glen Nature Reserve, County Fermanagh.
