Are We Not Dreaming – how Martel shaped the future of Speleology

About this event

The Marble Arch Caves are delighted to announce they are hosting a talk on the Father of Speleology Edouard-Alfred Martel by Richard Watson.

This talk is taking place as part of the Marble Arch Caves ongoing celebrations of the International Year of Caves and Karst (2021). Edouard Martel played a significant role in shaping the science of speleology and pioneered many aspects of early modern cave exploration, including the first recorded scientific exploration of the Marble Arch Caves systems in 1895.
