Carols in the Cave – A unique Christmas Experience
Join us for a magical Christmas concert deep within the natural auditorium that is the Marble Arch Caves. It is hard to imagine a more atmospheric and impressive venue for a Christmas Carol Experience.
Journey with us as the spellbinding acoustics in the show cave bring the festive performance of Christmas Carols by local Caritas Chamber Choir truly alive. Indulge and wonder as you are lead through this underground labyrinth of rivers, passages and glistening cave formations and be enchanted by the nature of sound in the cave as the blend of festive music with the silence, resonance, reverberation and echo of the cave will make you think “these walls can sing!”
What is Carols in the Cave
On arrival into our festive Visitor Centre, you are greeted by our warm and friendly helpers. Listen to the gentle sound of Carol singing as you wait to join your event guide for your Carols in the Cave experience which will take you underground for approximately 1 hour 15.
Your guide will take you through the show cave where you will stop at various locations to listen to Caritas Chamber Choir perform Christmas Carols and showcase festive songs underground. The Choir are a thriving mixed-voice choir who began life in 2014. The group who now have over 50 members, in addition to choral performances, they feature the talents of individual members, solo players and many capable vocal soloists.
On leaving the show cave you will return to the Visitor Centre, here you can enjoy complimentary festive drink and treats while you listen to Festive Carols. What to bring
The temperature in the show cave is approximately 10 degrees. For your comfort we suggest you wear flat, sturdy footwear and bring extra warm layers, fleece, gloves, hat and coat. Your journey through the show cave will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, you will be stopping at 4-5 locations for periods of time to listen to the Carols followed by short periods of walking. A great chance to don your favourite Christmas jumpers and hats and get into the festive spirit!
